Questions we get
every day.
Answers that are actually useful — no padding, no PR-speak.
Is visiting a sauna legal in Macau?
Yes. Sauna and spa venues are legal, licensed leisure businesses in Macau. They operate openly, pay taxes, and are a well-established part of the hospitality scene — comparable to similar venues in Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. The venues we list are all registered and running with full authorisation.
What does a night cost?
Packages vary by venue, by night, and by what you want included. A typical full evening runs somewhere in the mid-hundreds to low-thousands HKD. That's a wide range — because the answer depends on exactly where you're going and when. Text us and we'll give you an exact quote in about a minute. That number is what you pay. No surprises at checkout.
Do you charge a booking fee?
No. Using Fun Sauna to book is completely free. Venues pay us a commission for introducing guests. You pay the same venue prices you'd pay walking in cold — often better, because we negotiate packages that aren't on the public menu.
Is the hotel transfer really free?
Yes. We arrange a complimentary pick-up from your hotel when you book through us. Just confirm your hotel name and we'll sort the rest. It's part of the service, not an upsell.
Do staff at the venues speak English?
It varies by venue. At the places we recommend for first-timers — Empire Sauna, Victoria Sauna and Number Nine Spa — the front desk handles English-speaking guests regularly and the menu is easy to navigate. At venues geared more towards regulars, the format is clear enough that English isn't a barrier once you know the flow. We also brief the front desk before your arrival, so they're expecting you.
What should I bring?
Just yourself and a method of payment (cash or card — both accepted at most venues). Everything else is provided: robe, slippers, towel, locker. Leave valuables at the hotel if you can, or keep them secure in your locker.
What are the opening hours?
Most venues are open 24 hours with an overnight lounge, so you can arrive at any time and stay as long as you like. A couple of venues have specific late-night hours rather than round-the-clock access. We'll confirm the hours for the specific venue you're visiting when you book.
Can I just walk in without booking?
You can — but we'd recommend against it. Walking in without a booking means the front desk doesn't know you, the price might be different from what you expected, and at busy venues you may wait for a room. Book through us and all of that is sorted before you arrive.
How does WhatsApp booking work?
Text us on WhatsApp (or WeChat, or Telegram — all work). Tell us where you'd like to go, or just describe what you're after and let us recommend. We'll confirm the venue, quote the price, and notify the front desk. Whole process usually takes under five minutes. You show up, say you're with Fun Sauna, and you're in.
Can I go solo? What about with a group?
Both work well. Solo visits are completely normal — most venues are set up for solo guests and the format is self-explanatory once you're inside. Groups are welcome too; some venues have specific group packages or KTV-style rooms for parties. Let us know the size of your group when you book and we'll match you to the right venue.
How do I pay at the venue?
Everything during your visit goes on your locker number — it's essentially a running tab. At the end of the night you settle the whole amount in one go at the front desk. Cash is universally accepted; most venues also take major cards. If you have a preference, let us know when booking and we'll confirm.
Why trust funsauna.com?
We're booking agents based on the ground in Macau. We visit venues ourselves, compare the experience, and keep the information current. We only list venues we'd send a friend to. We don't take fees from you, which means there's no incentive to push you somewhere that isn't right for your night. If a venue changes something — hours, pricing, quality — we update our recommendation or drop the listing.
